Broadcast station owners want to consolidate. They’re struggling to get deals done

The post Broadcast station owners want to consolidate. They’re struggling to get deals done appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. headquarters are seen July 17, 2024 in Cockeysville, Maryland. Kevin Dietsch | Getty Images The broadcast television industry knows it needs to consolidate. It’s just struggling with how to do it. In August, Nexstar Media Group, the largest owner of broadcast stations in the U.S., announced a proposed $6.2 billion deal to buy Tegna — a combination that would bring together more than 260 stations across the U.S. Last week, Sinclair, the owner of 179 local TV affiliates, made a hostile offer to acquire its smaller peer E.W. Scripps after buying up nearly 10% of the company on the open market. Both potential deals remain in limbo, and executives are getting antsy. Companies like Sinclair and Nexstar run the affiliate stations of the major networks across the U.S. known for local news, sports and other broadcast content. They face the same headwinds as their cable and content studio counterparts — the shrinking number of pay-TV customers due to the rise of streaming and tech options. Broadcast station owners remain profitable, largely from the hefty fees they receive from pay-TV distributors. About 65 million U.S. households still subscribe to a bundle of linear TV networks. Anywhere from 33% to 50% of a broadcast station group’s annual revenue stems from retransmission fees — payments made to a broadcaster for the inclusion of local TV affiliates in pay-TV bundles — with advertising making up most of the rest. Yet profitability is shrinking for these companies as the universe of traditional bundle subscribers gets smaller. The streaming strategy for local news and TV has yet to come together, and like other parts of the media, local newsrooms and their resources are dwindling. That’s made station owners desperate to consolidate, just as the biggest media companies — including Paramount, Warner…

Zoomex User Withdraws $280K Futures Profit Smoothly, Gets Reward

The post Zoomex User Withdraws $280K Futures Profit Smoothly, Gets Reward appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. In the crypto market, the ability to withdraw funds smoothly is often one of the top concerns for traders. Recently, a user trading futures on Zoomex earned $280,000 in profit and successfully withdrew the full amount, demonstrating the platform’s stability and transparency in its deposit and withdrawal processes. The case also underscores Zoomex’s commitment to protecting user rights as a core part of its service philosophy. User Trading Futures Successfully Grew Profits to $280,000 and Completed a Smooth Withdrawal According to reports, a Zoomex user gradually accumulated profits amid last month’s high market volatility, ultimately reaching $280,000. While the impressive gains drew attention within the community, the real focus of discussion was the outcome of the withdrawal. The user stated that after submitting the withdrawal request, there were no risk control alerts, no requests for additional documents, and no manual review delays. The entire process was no different from a regular withdrawal, and the funds arrived on time. The user commented: “I expected delays or extra checks, but the entire process was smooth and punctual. It genuinely surprised me and made me feel at ease.” Providing Transparent and Fair Services, Becoming One the Most Trusted CEX for Users “For legitimate and compliant trading activity, Zoomex has an obligation to guarantee users the freedom to deposit and withdraw. Profit withdrawals are a trader’s rightful entitlement.” While global interest in cryptocurrencies continues to grow, regulations are still developing, leaving many users cautious about entering the market. Zoomex emphasized that it aims to create a centralized exchange environment where users can trade with confidence and peace of mind. As centralized exchanges are the first step into Web3 for most newcomers, Zoomex hopes to play a positive role at this crucial entry point—helping more people understand the convenience and potential of Web3, and bringing…

Strategy stress, liquidity strain – Blockworks

The post Strategy stress, liquidity strain – Blockworks appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. This is a segment from the 0xResearch newsletter. To read full editions, subscribe. Markets came under pressure on Monday as crypto sold off even while rate cut odds stayed elevated. Bitcoin traded lower throughout the session, at one point down more than 6% on the day, before finishing down about 4.5%. The Nasdaq 100 (-0.2%) and S&P 500 (-0.3%) slipped only modestly, while gold (+0.1%) again outpaced BTC and held near recent highs.  It seems that markets remain hyperfocused on United States rate developments. The CME FedWatch Tool now assigns an 87% probability of a 25bps cut in December, and we see the recent move in SOFR, again materially above the Fed’s upper bound, as a clear signal of emerging liquidity and bank reserve stress. When the key overnight secured rate persistently prices through the top of the policy corridor, it suggests that reserves are becoming scarce at the margin and that balance sheet capacity is constrained. All eyes are now on the Fed’s next move, since an adjustment in either balance sheet operations or the administered rates toolkit will be needed to alleviate this tension and re-anchor money market pricing back inside the target range. Back on the crypto side, performance was broadly weaker as most sector indices underperformed BTC after a difficult month for risk assets. The best performing group was Crypto Miners (+2.3%), which continued to decouple from the rest of the complex, while Crypto Equities (+0.1%) were marginally positive. At the other end of the spectrum, Modular fell 11.3%, Gaming declined 9.1%, and the AI basket dropped 8.1%. Meanwhile, L2, DEX, and DePIN indices also down between 6% to 8% on the day. We view the pattern as consistent with ongoing risk reduction across higher risk tokens, as markets wait for clearer confirmation that the Fed…

Falcon Finance integrated tokenized Mexican government bills (CETES) as collateral for its USDf stablecoin, marking the first non-US sovereign asset in its $2B+ system. The move diversifies beyond US Treasuries through Etherfuse's Solana-based tokenization, targeting Mexico's $65B remittance market while introducing emerging market currency and political risk. Whether users value geographic diversification over US credit reliability remains untested.
