Key Highlights

  • Advanced Micro Devices and Celestica unveiled a partnership to create the Helios rack-scale AI platform
  • Celestica will manage research, development, design, and production of scale-up networking switches for Helios
  • The networking infrastructure will link AMD’s upcoming Instinct MI450 Series GPUs for massive AI deployments
  • Helios utilizes the Open Compute Project Open-Rack-Wide form-factor and leverages Ultra Accelerator Link over Ethernet technology
  • Customer availability is planned for late 2026; AMD stock climbed approximately 1% in premarket trading Monday

Advanced Micro Devices has joined forces with Celestica (CLS) to develop an innovative rack-scale AI platform targeting enterprise-level artificial intelligence deployments. The platform, named Helios, aims to support demanding AI training and inference operations across cloud computing, enterprise data centers, and research facilities.

Celestica’s responsibilities in this collaboration encompass the complete lifecycle of scale-up networking switches—from research and development through design and production—specifically engineered for the AMD Helios infrastructure. The switches leverage the Open Compute Project Open-Rack-Wide form-factor, an open-source specification increasingly adopted by hyperscale data center operators.

The networking chips within these switches are purpose-built to facilitate rapid interconnection between AMD’s forthcoming Instinct MI450 Series GPUs. The architecture employs Ultra Accelerator Link over Ethernet for scale-up connectivity, a critical component that maintains high-bandwidth communication between GPU clusters.

Rack-scale AI infrastructure treats an entire rack as a unified computing element rather than multiple independent servers. This approach integrates GPUs, high-bandwidth networking, and liquid cooling systems into a cohesive platform optimized for training massive language models efficiently.

Steven Dorwart, senior vice president at Celestica, emphasized that scaling AI infrastructure demands systems capable of rapid and reliable deployment. Celestica brings its established expertise in data center architecture, engineering capabilities, and supply chain management to the Helios initiative.

AMD’s Market Position and Growth Trajectory

AMD currently maintains a market capitalization approaching $315 billion and has delivered a remarkable 92% return over the trailing twelve months, driven by accelerating demand for AI infrastructure solutions. The Helios platform represents another step in AMD’s strategic expansion within the data center GPU segment.

UBS analysts maintain a Buy rating on AMD with a $310 price target, highlighting strong revenue growth potential extending through 2027. The investment bank suggests AMD could secure a third major hyperscaler customer for its data center offerings, with Microsoft emerging as a probable partner.

Wolfe Research similarly rates AMD as Outperform, emphasizing the company’s server market traction and its comprehensive AI accelerator product roadmap as primary catalysts.

Additional Strategic Initiatives

Beyond the Helios announcement, AMD recently finalized a multi-year licensing arrangement with Adeia Inc., securing access to Adeia’s semiconductor intellectual property portfolio while resolving all pending legal disputes between the organizations.

Additionally, Avalon GloboCare has gained admission to AMD’s AI Developer Program, providing the company with access to AMD’s development tools and resources for artificial intelligence applications.

AMD stock appreciated approximately 1% in premarket trading Monday following the Helios disclosure. Celestica shares jumped roughly 3% during the same period.

The AMD Helios platform is slated for commercial availability in late 2026.

Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
