Trump pledges US contribution of $10 billion to his 'Board of Peace'

President Donald Trump's "Board of Peace" is getting its own hefty cash infusion from the United States.

CNN reported Thursday that Trump announced the U.S. will contribute $10 billion to the board. Trump will remain president of the board indefinitely, it appears, ABC News reported at the time of the announcement.

“I want to let you know that the United States is going to make a contribution of $10 billion to the Board of Peace,” Trump said. He added that the amount “is a very small number when you look at that compared to the cost of war.”

To join the board, countries must contribute at least $1 billion.

It's unknown how that money will be spent. As the New York Times notes, "Trump gave no details on where the money would come from or if the administration had even requested it from Congress, which would have to approve the funds."

Trump told the countries, “Together we can achieve the dream of bringing lasting harmony to a region tortured by centuries of war, suffering and carnage.”
