Oman has started a preliminary study on deploying sixth-generation (6G) networks, according to the national telecoms regulator.
The study will focus on assessing infrastructure requirements, identifying radio frequency spectrums and potential applications of 6G, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said on X.
The initiative will ensure the adoption of emerging communication technologies and enhance local value creation through advanced telecoms capabilities.
The Gulf nation launched 5G in December 2019, with coverage extending across the country by late 2025.
Mobile service subscriptions reached more than 8 million by the end of October 2025, an 11 percent year-on-year increase, data released in December by the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed.
High-speed 6G services are expected to be ready for commercial markets globally by the early 2030s.
